How would you like to be a little part of publishing history?

Orbit's covers for Tom Holt's books have been acclaimed for conveying Tom's trademark sense of humour. Now, for the first time, we're running a competition for one reader to provide the illustration for the cover of Tom's next book, BARKING, summarised below:

Some monsters are scarier than others. Unicorns? No bother. Vampires? Big deal. Werewolves? Ho hum. Lawyers? … Aaargh!

Duncan's boss doesn't think that he's cut out to be a lawyer. He isn’t a pack animal. He lacks the killer instinct. But when his best friend from school barges his way back into Duncan’s life, with a full supporting cast of lawyers, ex-wives, zombies and snow-white unicorns, it’s not long before things become distinctly unsettling. Hairy, even.

Besides the glory of seeing their artwork on the cover of the book, the lucky winner will receive a copy of every single title Orbit publishes for one year - over sixty books.

The rules are simple: black pen, white paper, should take no longer than 30 seconds, marks deducted for any artistic ability displayed (shading, perspective, etc). Entries should be posted to: Tom Holt Cover Competition, Orbit, Little Brown Book Group, Brettenham House, Lancaster Place, London, WC2E 7EN, to arrive no later than 7 August. We regret that we cannot accept entries by email. The judges' decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into. We cannot return entries.
